Frances graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota College of Home Economics (as a dietitian). Frances worked at the Anchor Hospital in St. Paul, the Warrall Hospital in Rochester, and as an administrative dietitian at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. She retired in 1972.

Frances R. Sederberg, age 99 of New Brighton died on August 5, 2009.

She was born in 1910 in North Branch. She and her six brothers and six sisters grew up on a farm with her parents, John and Emma.

During her childhood, she had a few pets, a cat named Toodie, a dog named BG, and a horse named Nelly.

While growing up on the farm, she enjoyed playing baseball for fun and acquired the nickname "The Slugger".

In North Branch, she attended grade school and graduated from North Branch High School. After the age of 18, she left home to attend school at the University of Minnesota-College of Home Economics. While in college she studied to major in dietetics and had a year internship at Anchor Hospital.

Frances went to work as a therapeutic dietician and then later as an administrative dietician. She worked at Warrell Hospital in Rochester, Minn., where she had the honor of attending important lectures and conversing with the famous individual, Helen Keller. After leaving Warrell Hospital she went on to work at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis and was there until she retired.

After Frances retired, she traveled quite a bit. She visited Texas, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Michigan, Florida, Montana, Nevada, Canada, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Although she has not traveled recently, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting afghans, doing crossword puzzles, crypto-quips, exercising, going on outings, crafts and participating in any musical activity.

Frances has been a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was baptized there in 1910 and confirmed in 1923.

She is survived by nieces Donna Stone, Sharon Bohach, Joanne Peterson and Delores Olson; niece-in-law Lois Berg; nephews Michael & John Farrell; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch.

Visitation was one hour prior to service at the church.

Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in North Branch.

Arrangements were made by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
